Grindrod Bank Funding and Financial Services
Grindrod Bank operates as a registered Financial Services Provider (FSP 6317) and Credit Provider (NCRCP25). The bank is regulated by the South African Reserve Bank and the Financial Services Conduct Authority. As a result, it is authorised to provide a wide range of financial products and services. The institution specialises in managing cash deposits, providing corporate lending, and delivering customised financial solutions to corporate, institutional, and private clients.
Supporting South Africa’s Economic Transformation
As a proudly South African institution, Grindrod Bank actively contributes to the country’s transformation agenda. In particular, the bank promotes economic growth through its Black Industrialist Programme, SME development strategy, and B-BBEE implementation initiatives. Furthermore, the bank maintains offices in Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town. From these locations, it considers property investment opportunities across most regions within South Africa.
Corporate Finance and M&A Advisory Services
Through close collaboration with clients, partners, and other financial institutions, the bank has expanded its presence across numerous industries and sectors. In addition, its Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) division operates as the Sub-Saharan African member firm of Oaklins, a leading international mid-market M&A advisory network.
Consequently, the advisory team provides a comprehensive range of services. These include sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, equity capital markets advisory, listings and IPOs, company valuations, fairness opinions, and BEE advisory services. Moreover, the bank also serves as a sponsor and designated advisor on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
Importantly, the Corporate Finance and M&A team delivers independent, objective, and innovative financial advice. At the same time, the team combines strong local expertise with the benefits of an extensive global advisory network through its partnership with Oaklins.
Grindrod Bank Corporate and SME Banking Solutions
The Corporate and SME Banking division provides specialised financial products and services designed to help businesses build value, manage growth, and maximise their potential. In particular, the division focuses on supporting well-managed small to mid-market companies that demonstrate consistent profitability and strong cash-flow generation.
Typically, the division offers short-term funding facilities ranging between R10 million and R50 million. These facilities aim to improve cash-flow management and strengthen working capital cycles. Furthermore, the bank provides several financial solutions, including debtor finance, overdraft facilities, and term debt.
Business Banking and Deposit Services
In addition, Grindrod Bank offers a broad range of deposit, lending, and payment services. The bank also provides tailored financial solutions to business clients ranging from sole practitioners to large corporate professional firms. To enhance service delivery, the bank engages with clients through multiple channels, including dedicated portfolio managers who provide personalised financial support and guidance.
Grindrod Bank Property Finance and Development Funding
The property division of Grindrod Bank focuses on customised financial solutions for property development and investment opportunities. More specifically, the division concentrates on traditional commercial and industrial property funding, although it may also support retail centres and office building developments.
Funding structures vary depending on the project requirements. For example, traditional senior mortgage finance is typically provided where properties are geared up to approximately 70% of the bank’s assessed value. However, when funding requirements exceed this level, the bank may offer mezzanine debt. This additional financing bridges the gap between the investor’s available equity and the traditional senior debt level, thereby enabling projects to proceed while maintaining an appropriate capital structure.
